New Westover Library Garden Benefits from NACDS Volunteers

Since the beginning of May, volunteers from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) have been providing valuable assistance at the Plot against Hunger garden at Westover Library. Head gardener Becky Halbe reports that they have been ready for every task: clearing beds of tenacious weeds, potting up rogue spearmint plants for AFAC clients,  and planting, watering, and harvesting new crops. The garden has benefitted from beautiful bell peppers grown by volunteer and Master Gardener Judy Salveson and a pea crop that got its second wind and is still flowering and bearing fruit. Garden dog Dudley says “two paws up” for this new Plot garden.
