Hunger Action Month is a month-long awareness campaign to inspire action against hunger. Throughout the month of September, AFAC will work to educate the community about food insecurity and invite all to join in the task of feeding our neighbors in need. With full plates and full hearts, you can help end hunger.
Take action and start a food drive in your community. Learn more here →
Show us how you are taking action and tag us on social media. Use hashtags, such as #afacfeeds #HungerActionMonth, #afacHAM, #fooddrive, and #volunteer4afac.

Safeway's Nourishing Neighbors Campaign
This month, AFAC is partnering with Safeway through their Nourishing Neighbors campaign to help support breakfasts for Arlington students in need. When you check out at one of the four Safeways in Arlington, you can donate to this campaign to help AFAC purchase breakfast cereal for our weekly grocery distribution program.
Giant Food Community Bag Program
For the month of September, when you buy a reusable bag from the Giant Food near Bailey's Crossroads (3480 S. Jefferson St in Falls Church), $1 gets donated to AFAC through their Community Bag Program!
If you purchase a reusable bag at other Giant Food locations, you can also support AFAC through their Giving Tags program, where you can select the benefiting organization.
November & December Holidays
It's not too early to start to think about how you can help AFAC during the November & December holiday season! During those months, we usually see a record amount of families looking for food assistance.
