Hunger Action Month is a month-long awareness campaign to inspire action against hunger. Throughout the month of September, AFAC will work to educate the community about food insecurity and invite all to join in the task of feeding our neighbors in need. Safeway's Nourishing Neighbors Campaign
This month, AFAC is partnering with Safeway through their Nourishing Neighbors campaign to help support breakfasts for Arlington students in need. When you check out at one of three Safeways in Arlington, you can donate to this campaign to help AFAC purchase breakfast cereal for our weekly grocery distribution program.
Food For the People Exhibit
Take a short trip and visit the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum's (1901 Fort Place SE Washington, DC 20020) exhibit called Food For the People: Eating and Activism in Greater Washington. Take a deep dive into the food issues of the nation’s capital—past and present—with this outdoor and indoor exhibition featuring artifacts, art installations, videos, and hands-on interactives. Exhibit runs through September 27, 2022.
