Volunteer Spotlight – Offsite Distributions

We occasionally have too many helpers at AFAC but did you know we distribute food at 18 other locations? Those locations are usually staffed with “regular” volunteers but on occasion they need subs. Volunteers with different language skills are also appreciated at our various offsite locations because many of our clients speak languages other than English. Below are some offsites that currently need some extra help.

Claridge House: We are actively recruiting for another volunteer to join our Claridge House crew. This offsite takes place every Monday morning and serves residents of the Claridge House senior apartment building in Pentagon City. On Monday holidays, distribution is rescheduled to Tuesday morning. We are particularly eager to have Russian, Amharic, or Korean speaking volunteers help out at Claridge! Parking is tight at this location, but it is easily accessible to the Pentagon City region. If you are interested in joining the Claridge crew, please email us at volunteer@afac.org

Green Valley and The Shell: AHC, an affordable housing community, partners with AFAC to provide free, fresh groceries to its residents. We are looking for volunteers to help once a week at two AFAC distributions. One-time and occasional volunteers accepted too. Email volunteer@ahcinc.org for more information.

  • Green Valley: Fridays, noon – 2pm at 3215 24th St. S.
  • The Shell: Mondays, 11am-1:15pm at 870 S Greenbrier St.

If you are interested in volunteering at any of these offsites or have any questions, please reach out. You can also look for one-time openings at offsite locations on the volunteer portal. Be sure to pay attention to the location when you sign up!
