Each year, the National Association of Letter Carriers dedicates the 2nd Saturday of May to serving communities nationwide by collecting food to be delivered to local hunger organizations. In Arlington County, all food collected by letter carriers will come here to AFAC!
We ask that residents put non-perishable food items into a grocery bag and leave them next to their mailbox by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Your letter carrier will pick up the items and deliver them to AFAC. If you live in an apartment building or have a communal mailbox, please consider dropping it off at one of the Arlington Public Library branches or at an Arlington post office instead. Food Drive boxes will be placed in the lobbies of the Main, North, Westover, South, and Shirlington post offices May 7 through May 12. Click here for the 2018 flyer.
The foods we need most are:
- Low sugar cereal
- Low sodium canned tomato products (diced, paste, or sauce)
- Low sodium canned tuna
- Low sodium canned soups
- Low sodium canned beans
*No glass, expired food, or household items, please!
