Eid al-Adha August Fundraiser

Eid Mubarak!  Arlington Democrats Interfaith Caucus, Baitul Mukarram Masjid Islamic Center, and NOVA Friends of Refugees are teaming up for a virtual food fundraiser throughout August. Eid al-Adha is a celebration of the story of Abraham and Isaac, common to three faiths (Islam, Judaism, and Christianity). To commemorate its theme of sacrifice, we are raising awareness of food insecurity in Arlington and raising funds for AFAC.

Your donations will help meet the growing numbers of families who face food insecurity in Arlington. Because of Covid-19 and resulting unemployment, AFAC has seen a 40% increase in demand.

Eid al-Adha is a four-day celebration. But to honor its meaning, we will hold our fundraiser throughout the month (until our special Take-Out event on August 30). Please help us reach our goal of $3,000 by giving what you can. If you need some guidance, here are some suggestions:

$18 buys a 50 lb. case of oranges

$21 buys 18 half gallons of milk

$25 buys 18 dozen eggs

$35 provides one family with food for one week to reduce childhood hunger

$48 buys 20 boxes (12 oz)of low-sugar cereal
