CAN19: HGA

two otters holding hands

HGA is pleased to announce that we are once again participating in the Northern Virginia AIA’s Canstruction® competition on October 4, 2019.

Canstruction® is a fun design/build competition that helps feed local residents in need. Teams build large, imaginative structures entirely out of canned goods. A jury then selects the best structures to move on to the national competition. When the exhibit is over, all of the food is donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

In the past, HGA’s creations have included a Bi-Plane, iPod, The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters fame, a T-Rex, an American Heart and a family of Ducks. Last year the team’s entry was Hunger Together We Can Crack This Nut! a sculpture of squirrel with his acorn find made of healthy food. HGA was proud to win Northern Virginia AIA’s Best Original Design as well as place 5th in the International Design Competition for Best Original Design. We are currently making a plan for this year and are very excited to unveil our design as things unfold.

We’re thrilled about this opportunity to continue to give back to the community, and we hope that you will consider teaming with us on this most important endeavor. We have an enthusiastic group in place to design and build our innovative design, but we need your help! All supporters will be recognized along-side our project, which will be on display from October 4th to October 13th at Dulles International Airport, on the lower level of the main terminal.

If you are interested, please consider donating funds for us to be able to purchase the food needed to execute our creation!
