New Features for Donors and Clients Make it Easier than Ever to Donate and Receive Food

ARLINGTON, VA – The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, offering upgraded capabilities to optimize donor giving and clients’ accessibility to food resources. Exclusive visual media content featured throughout the site allows visitors to take a closer look at the inner workings of AFAC’s distribution, donation, and volunteer processes.

“Our updated website is designed to be more user-friendly and efficient, providing a streamlined experience for donors, clients, and volunteers,” says Charlie Meng, Chief Executive Officer of AFAC. “It’s another step forward in making food assistance accessible while enhancing how our community can contribute to local food relief initiatives.”

Key features of the new website:

  • Food Drop-Off Map for Donors: A brand-new interactive map feature allows donors to type in their zip code to locate the nearest AFAC food donation bins. This simplifies the process of giving and encourages even more participation from the community by making it easier than ever to donate food.
  • Public Food Distribution Sites Map: For AFAC clients, a new dynamic map allows them see the nearest AFAC grocery distribution location to them. This enhancement streamlines the process of accessing food resources for AFAC’s families and website visitors looking for food assistance.
  • Audiovisual Material: Donors, clients, and volunteers are now able to gain deeper insight into AFAC’s operations through recorded media featured across the site – not only does this allow donors and volunteers to visualize how their contributions are making an impact, but it also enhances clients ability to continue receiving dignified access to supplemental groceries through a close-up look at the food pick-up process.

“As more and more families come to AFAC’s doorstep, we are always working to enhance our process of providing food assistance resources to our neighbors in need,” says Meng. “These new features allow AFAC to continue fulfilling our mission of providing dignified and easy access to groceries for food insecure residents of Arlington County.”
