two young men volunteering with AFAC

Summer Teen Program

**The 2024 Summer Teen Program is now full. If you are interested in volunteering, fill out a profile form and look for one-time opportunities on our online calendar**

We are looking for volunteers who will be between the ages of 14-17 AND rising 9th-12th graders to help run our client distributions and other volunteer activities between June and August. Eligible participants must be registered volunteers in our system and complete a summer teen application form.

We will accept SIX teens every week (Monday through Friday): three teens for the first shift (8:45am-11am) and three teens for the second shift (11am-1:15pm). You may only serve one week during the summer, but other additional opportunities will be posted on the calendar as our needs change. We will try our best to honor scheduling preferences.

If you already have a volunteer profile in our system, you do NOT need to fill out a new one.

If you don't have a volunteer profile in our system yet, click this link to fill out a volunteer profile form so you will be in our volunteer management system.

Scheduling

On the form, you will indicate your first, second and third choice preferences for a five-day experience at AFAC. We will try to honor wishes, but we will plan the schedule on a first received, first scheduled basis. Shifts are from 8:45 am – 11 am OR 11 am - 1:15 pm. Please arrive on time for your shift. We are only planning on scheduling six teens per week for this specific program.

2024 Holidays: There will be NO summer teens on Wednesday, June 19th (AFAC will be closed for Juneteenth) or Thursday, July 4 (AFAC will be closed for Independence Day)

Another way to earn hours is to sign up for shifts outside the Summer Teen Program. All other volunteering opportunities listed on the volunteer calendar (morning helpers, warehouse help, weekend produce bagging, chicken bagging, meet at market, gleaning, etc.) are available unless they say 18+. Please read the description before signing up and do not cancel at the last minute. You can sign up for these shifts using the online calendar.
