All summer teen spots are now full for 2018. If you will be 14 and older this summer and wish to help, please fill out a volunteer profile form and you’ll have access to other volunteer opportunities.
We are looking for volunteers who will be between the ages of 14-17 AND rising 9th-12th graders to help run our client distributions and other volunteer activities between June and August. Eligible participants must be registered volunteers, complete a summer teen application form, and attend a mandatory orientation session. We will accept FOUR teens every week (Monday through Friday). Shifts are 9:15 am – 12:30 pm. You may only serve one week during the summer, but other additional opportunities will be posted on the calendar as our needs change. We will try our best to honor scheduling preferences.
All teenagers: Please fill out this application to indicate you would like to participate in our Summer Teen Program and to sign up for orientation dates: https://goo.gl/forms/5nH3cLMRMavtn4Ds2
Teenagers who have a volunteer account: You do not need to fill out another volunteer profile form.
Teenagers without a volunteer account: Click this link to fill out a volunteer profile form so you will be in our volunteer management system.
Summer Teen Orientation:
Teenagers must attend an orientation prior to their participation, even if they have attended an orientation in years past. Bring a copy of our Minor Hold Harmless form signed by a parent or guardian to the orientation (if you haven’t done so already). Orientations will be held at AFAC (2708 S. Nelson Street) on the following dates:
Fri., May 18 – 4:30-5:30 pm
Fri., June 1 – 4:30-5:30 pm
Sat., June 9 – 11:30am-12:30 pm
On the form, you will indicate your first, second and third choice preferences for a five-day experience at AFAC. We will try to honor wishes, but we will plan the schedule on a first received, first scheduled basis. Shifts are from 9:15 am – 12:30 pm. Please arrive no later than 9:15am. We are only planning on scheduling four teens per week for this specific program.
Another way to earn hours is to sign up for shifts outside the Summer Teen Program. All other volunteering opportunities listed on the calendar (morning helpers, warehouse help, weekend produce bagging, chicken bagging, meet at market, gleaning, etc.) are available unless they say 18+. Please read the description before signing up and do not cancel at the last minute. You can sign up for these shifts using the online calendar.
