Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AFAC will not be accepting donations of fresh produce. We have made changes to our food distribution and food drop off procedures that make individual produce donations difficult to handle.
- All food donations are being collected outside in food drive boxes. We are not allowing food donors to enter our building at this moment.
- In order to minimize contact and time a client family is at AFAC, we are handing out bags that are already filled with AFAC’s standard menu of food items.
- These pre-assembled bags are all uniform. This means all bags are getting the same kind of produce – produce that is being purchased or being donated in bulk through the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program.
We appreciate that you are thinking of others, especially during this difficult time. We are doing the best to serve the increasing need in our community and our modified procedures are being done to maximize efficiency, speed, and safety for all.
For a list of alternative sites to donate produce, see this link for the Victory Garden Project, which is organized by the Arlington Friends of Urban Agriculture.
