Featured Volunteer – Janet Fedak
Janet has been volunteering with AFAC for over 2 years. You can find her at AFAC on Monday afternoons in our warehouse, bagging produce and dry goods, or restocking the shelves with the Monday afternoon team. She also volunteers at grocery store food drives, special events, and cooking demonstrations during our distributions. Janet is a part of the Empty Bowls Committee and helps coordinate all of our baking needs – for thank you gifts to our partners and for our events.
“I have always felt that it is important to give back to the community in some way and retirement has given me that opportunity,” says Janet. “AFAC enables me to use my organizational skills, my joy of cooking (for the cooking demonstrations), my event planning interests (Empty Bowls fundraiser), and my desire to help those who are less fortunate than me and to try to make a difference in their lives.”
“I so admire all the volunteers and AFAC staff I work with for their creativity, hard work and dedication,” Janet says. “I’m proud to be a small part of the growing success of the Empty Bowls fundraiser, and I love it when a small child likes the food sample I have prepared and comes back for seconds!”
Thank you Janet for your support and dedication to AFAC!
