Featured Volunteer – Carl Peckinpaugh
Carl has been volunteering with AFAC for about 5 years. You can find him at AFAC on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month supervising our weekend produce bagging teams. He leads volunteers as they bag donations we receive from the farmers’ markets and also makes sure enough mixed produce bags are prepared for our elderly clients at our offsite distributions.
Prior to volunteering, Carl says “I had been donating a little money at year’s end for a while, and one of the thank-you letters I received invited me to consider a more hands-on role, and I thought, ‘why not.’ Weekend produce bagging fit my schedule to start with, and I soon found that I enjoy the diversity and camaraderie of the experience.”
Of his favorite experience, Carl says, “the day we received 6+ tons of sweet potatoes from gleaning, while 2 dozen volunteers were on-hand to bag them; that was one of the most exciting sessions.”
Thank you Carl for your support and dedication to AFAC!
