With the assistance of Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs from the Chain Bridge District of the National Capitol Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, our Scouting for Food Drive is AFAC's largest single day food drive. This partnership has collected over 1 million pounds of food since 1995. Each year, Scouting for Food is held on the second Saturday of every November.

To prepare for this event, Boy Scout troops go door to door and distribute bags to houses on their routes on a Saturday so that residents can gather non-perishable food to donate. On the following Saturday, scouts return to their routes, gather the food donations, and deliver them to Our Savior Lutheran Church where they're sorted by volunteers. After the drive, the food is delivered to AFAC where volunteers stock the shelves and prepare the food for distribution.
