Scouting for Food
With the assistance of Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs from the Chain Bridge District of the National Capitol Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, our Scouting for Food Drive is AFAC’s largest single day food drive. This partnership has collected over 1 million pounds of food since 1995. Each year, Scouting for Food is held on the second Saturday of every November.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, local scouts will do their own food collection at some point between September 2021 and February 2022. On one Saturday, scouts will leave notices on your door, letting you know they will be back the following Saturday to pick up donations from your door. For anyone who receives a notice, please follow their directions so your donations can be picked up by the troop. If you do not receive a notification from the Boy Scouts, do not leave donations by your door.
Anyone who wishes to donate nonperishable food to help AFAC prepare for the holiday season can drop off their donations at several locations across Arlington, which are listed here: https://afac.org/food-donation-locations/.
Be on the lookout for flyers in your neighborhood to help the Scouts feed our neighbors in need.
