‘HOO WANTS TO BEAT TECH – 8TH ANNUAL UVA VS. VT FOOD DRIVE COMPETITION
UVA alumni are taking on Virginia Tech alumni in a charity race again this year! From November 1st until November 30th, the DC Hoos are competing against the DC Hokies to see which alumni club can collect more donations to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center. If the DC Hoos win, Virginia Tech’s Alumni Association will donate $50 to the UVA Club of Washington, DC Scholarship Fund! See how the Hokies are doing by clicking here.
We’re also hosting a family-friendly event on Friday, November 22nd at AFAC’s warehouse to bag produce or dry goods into individual portions for distribution (learn more and sign up for the event here). Additionally, we will be collecting physical donations at the football gamewatch at Don Tito’s Arlington (3165 Wilson Blvd, Arlington) during the 11/2 game vs. UNC Chapel Hill. AFAC is most in need of the following low-sugar and low-sodium items: canned tuna, canned soup, canned vegetables, peanut butter (in plastic jars), and cereal.
The Arlington Food Assistance Center provides supplemental groceries to 2,300 families every week in Arlington County. The UVA Club of Washington, DC has volunteered at the Arlington Food Assistance Center in the past and is proud to continue to support this outstanding nonprofit.
Come on, Hoos! Let’s start fundraising!
