Arlington’s Disaster Relief Trials (DRT) are a one-of-a kind event created to teach people how their bicycle can be a resource during an emergency. The DRT simulates a large-scale disaster blocking roadways and challenges participants to use bikes to transport emergency supplies, critical messages, and (simulated) medicine throughout Arlington County while traversing obstacles. This unique event brings together bike enthusiasts, as wells as those interested in fitness and disaster preparedness.
Help fight hunger in Arlington AND sponsor the DRT! Build a stronger and more resilient community while promoting your company within the DMV!
12-16% of Arlington residents qualify as very low-income, making it difficult to prepare for emergencies. Arlington County Emergency Management partners with AFAC during September (both National Preparedness AND Hunger Action Months) to help ensure our community has the resources it needs every day, and during an emergency. Donations from this campaign will be used to purchase food used during the Disaster Relief Trials to simulate the realistic transportation of food during an emergency, and then distributed for use by AFAC.
